The couple have been married since 2009 and have two daughters: Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10.
Emma Heming shared an emotional post to mark her 17th wedding anniversary with husband Bruce Willis, who continues to battle frontotemporal dementia. The model married the Die Hard actor in 2009. Seventeen years later, she posted an archive photo of them on holiday together on the ocean coast.
17 years for us. Anniversaries used to be exciting — now, to be honest, they stir up all the feelings, leaving a heavy heart and an emptiness in the soul. I give myself 30 minutes to reflect on the question, “Why him, why us,” to feel the anger and the grief, she continued. “Then I shake it off and come back to what is. And what is… It’s unconditional love. I feel blessed to know that,” she finished.
In the comments, Emma received an outpouring of support from fans and friends, including Bruce and Demi Moore’s daughter Tallulah Willis.
“I love you so much,” wrote the 30-year-old, who got engaged to boyfriend Justin Acey on Christmas Day this month.
The emotional post comes nearly two years after Bruce was shockingly diagnosed with dementia, just before his 68th birthday. The condition causes personality changes, speech difficulties and memory problems. Emma is exceptionally close to Bruce’s ex-wife Demi Moore and his eldest daughters, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah. The close-knit family has become a pillar of support for Heming, 46, who has in turn become an activist for support groups for people dealing with the condition.
