A miracle like no other: Parents overjoyed after their baby’s birth, but what doctors discovered left everyone speechless. 👶✨ She had a broad smile which was caused by a rare illness. Now look what this baby looks like after several years.
Confusion and dismay immediately overshadowed the young couple’s anxiously anticipated daughter’s arrival. The doctors couldn’t understand the little girl who was born smiling all the time. Her mother also revealed a devastating reality when they fully understood what had transpired.
Ayla Summer Mucha’s parents were ecstatic when their baby was born. They knew she was unique as soon as they saw her, but they were unaware that the broad smile she had displayed to welcome them was caused by a rare illness.
On December 30, 2021, Australian couple Cristina Vercher and Blaize Mucha welcomed their baby into the world. However, they discovered during the C-section that their daughter Ayla had bilateral macrostomia, a condition in which her mouth had not developed normally.
This unusual disease, known as a facial cleft, occurs when the corners of the mouth do not fuse together during pregnancy. Only 14 examples of this abnormality have been reported in medical literature, making it incredibly uncommon, according to the National Library of Medicine.
There were no anomalies found in Vercher’s ultrasound examination, which indicated that her pregnancy was normal.
The problem was “obvious” because the infant “was so tiny,” so when the new parents looked at her, they knew something wasn’t right. They were very concerned about this.
“Neither Blaize nor I knew about this condition, and I had never met someone who was born with macrostomia,” Vercher remarked. “Therefore, it was quite shocking.”
The doctors and parents were unprepared to deal with a newborn who had bilateral macrostomia.
Because it took many hours for a doctor to respond, this made the situation much more frightening. More challenges followed since the hospital was unaware of or unsupportive of such an uncommon condition, the mother said, adding, “As a mother, all I could think about was where I went wrong.”
Vercher grappled with the idea that her baby’s disability was caused by whatever she did wrong throughout her pregnancy. “As a mother, all I could think about was where I might have messed up,” she admitted.
After a battery of tests and scans, the doctors reassured the mother that neither she nor her husband were responsible for the problem and that it was completely out of their hands.
In an effort to learn more about the illness, Ayla’s parents decided to post Ayla’s story on social media. They were shocked to see how quickly their baby’s unique smile won over 6.5 million TikTok users. The unforeseen amount of support that the Muchas received was overwhelming.
Only 14 cases have been reported, according to what I recently read on Google about doctors. She is truly unique. One individual wrote, “Be proud, mama.”
SHe is stunning and flawless just the way she is. I also smiled because of her,” someone other wrote.
Naturally, some people also made fun of Ayla, but her supporters quickly silenced them.
“Please don’t listen to those resentful individuals; your daughter is stunning. Someone wrote, “She is such an angel.” “Oh my god. You’re very adorable! Another said, “Ignore all those hurtful remarks; your cuteness is just too adorable.”
A third said, “I’m sorry to see those careless remarks, but you are a strong woman with a lovely daughter.”
“I would advise nothing more than to be kind and accepting of all people,” Vercher stated in reaction to the terrible comments made about her beloved child.
“If such events were to occur in your life, people paid the same respect to you or your children, as you would hope,” she added, adding that anyone may actually experience circumstances “like this.” Social media is a contentious environment. Unfortunately, you have no control over other people’s personalities.
Now two years old, Ayla most likely had corrective surgery and has virtually little scarring from it. She just become an older sister.
