This 64-Year-Old Woman Sold Her Home To Live In A Van And Get Rid Of Her Mortgage 😲 Now She Can Travel And Enjoy Life 😍 Check Out What Her Tiny Home Looks Like Inside
When Claire realized that her modest income as an artist was not enough to maintain a house and pay the mortgage, she decided that a small, cozy home would bring her more joy than an empty house with a mortgage.
So the 64-year-old artist sold her house, paid off the mortgage and started living in a van.
Claire almost spent a year reading, researching and looking at examples of other tiny homes to create her own van-based mini home.
She developed the plans herself and emphasized that she designed the house with millimeter precision.
She spent $26,000 to buy the van and another $45,000 to remodel it.
When the van door is closed, it looks like a normal car. But open the door and you’ll see a charming little house with two windows.
In front of one of the windows is Claire’s work station – a small cabinet with plenty of storage space that also serves as a computer desk.
On the other side of the van there is a small kitchen.
There is a spacious cabinet for storing spices, sauces, oil and other kitchen utensils.
The kitchen countertop folds down to reveal a small bathroom with a toilet. You can also hang a temporary shower curtain.
Claire’s bedroom is located at the back of the van. It has a large, cozy bed and a window. Under the bed is a pull-out table where she eats her meals, and next to it is a refrigerator hidden under the seat.
When talking about the safety of a single woman living in a van, Claire said it was important to have access to the cabin so you could leave at any time.
