The star of the iconic film Titanic was often mocked in her youth. Once, an interviewer claimed that Kate looked as if she had been “melted and poured” onto the red carpet.
Winslet admitted that such treatment shocked her, especially since she was young. The actress frequently faced hate due to her weight, with people openly commenting about it to her face.
“I just let them say it. I replied, ‘I hope this haunts you.’ And it was a great moment. It was a great moment because it wasn’t just about me. It was for all the people who also faced harassment. It was awful, it was really bad,” Kate shared tearfully in an interview with 60 Minutes.
One acting teacher even told her she would only be cast as an overweight woman, which only amused her and motivated her to move forward. “I thought, ‘Now I’ll really show all of you, but I’ll do it quietly.’”
Kate Winslet also opened up about her personal life, revealing that she had struggled with sexual desire for a long time due to personal issues.
