The dearest ones
All children are born wonderful and beautiful in their own way. And it doesnât matter what color their skin is, what race they are, who their parents are and what they have achieved in life.
But there are some babies who are born very unique. For example, the children of photographer Judith Nwokochi, a Canadian woman of Nigerian descent.

The boy, Kamis, has dark skin, black hair and brown eyes, just like his mother. But his sister, Kachi, is an albino and is completely different from her brother.

Judith says that she always dreamed of twins, and when she went to the ultrasound she was sure of what they would tell her. At the hospital they confirmed that her dream would come true, because there really were two children under her heart.
At the next ultrasound, the woman was disappointed to learn that one of the babies would most likely be born with Down syndrome.
â At 7 weeks, Kachi was lagging behind in everything, she was very small and not growing. I remember the doctors saying she might not survive â Iâm so glad she survived!â
At 37 weeks of pregnancy, an examination revealed that the baby girl had stopped growing. An emergency operation was needed to ensure her survival. The mother underwent a cesarean section. Kamsi was born first at 9:44 p.m., followed by Kachi.

When Judith was first given the baby, she didnât believe it was her daughter and waited for the doctors to say there was a mix-up, but all she heard from the nurse was how beautiful the girl was.

âI was so happy that she was born perfect! Both babies were healthy, I was just scared for nothing. Apart from the fact that she is a different color, she is my copy.â

Indeed, apart from poor eyesight and sensitive skin, Kachi is absolutely healthy. Of course, she attracts the attention of many, and those around her look at her with bewilderment, but the babyâs mother is not at all concerned.

â It took me a while to realize that I would have to raise an albino. I was worried about what people would say. Itâs very unusual to have one albino and one black baby. I was upset and worried about how she would fit into society, how people would treat her.â

The brother and sister have a very warm and friendly relationship, and their mother says that âthey donât notice anything strange.â

They both are very lucky to have each other!
