In 2020, Lauren Nelson, an 11-year-old with a great sense of style, has spent the last two months transforming an old van into a cozy mini-home.
Lauren Nelson saw a $650 VW van toy model in a magazine that she wanted to own.
She shared the idea with her mother, Amy Nelson, at which point her father chimed in, saying, “That’s ridiculous; you could buy a real van for that amount of money!”
To everyone’s surprise, Lauren was interested in her father’s words. She decided to save her entire allowance and any small income she earned.
She kept small amounts. So he started looking for a suitable van for his project.
Luckily, a neighbor down his street was selling an old 20-foot van for a good price, despite its poor condition.
Lauren fell in love with the van and decided to buy it, even though it was a little over her budget. She agreed on a price of $400, which was exactly what she had saved in the bank.
After purchasing the van, Lauren began renovating it despite having no experience with handicrafts. She continued to build her tiny dream home, although the costs were quite high.
She had to save more money for needed improvements and ended up spending another $400 on furniture and home accessories.
The home is decorated in shades of black, white and grey, creating a clean and simple look. Inside, there is a cozy living room, a bedroom with four beds, a bathroom, a kitchen and additional storage space.
