A Son, a Step kid,

I spent weeks caring for my stepmother after her surgery while her biological son claimed he was “too busy with work.” When she passed, the will gave everything to him.

“What I leave behind cannot be measured in possessions, but in the hearts of those who stayed when I needed them most.”

The house and money were his—but her true legacy, the proof of who mattered to her, was mine. I folded the letter and walked away, leaving him with only the weight of his inheritance.
