Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin’s Daughter Apple, 20, Slammed for ‘Mean’ Behavior at Le Bal Des Débutantes in Paris

The daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin joined approximately 20 young women for the prestigious Le Bal des Débutantes, but her behavior has caused reactions from viewers.

Fans were taken aback by Apple Martin’s actions at the Le Bal des Débutantes event, with many criticizing her attitude and likening it to “mean girl” conduct.

Apple looked stunning at the luxurious event held at the $1,000-a-night Hotel Shangri-La in Paris. She turned heads in a strapless sky-blue gown from Valentino’s Spring 2025 collection.

Crafted specifically for the occasion, the long evening dress was made from ciel bleu silk plissé chiffon, with a bodice featuring intricate vertical plissé detailing. The design was completed with a black silk bow that elegantly accentuated her waist, adding a timeless touch to the ensemble.

Despite her flawless appearance, her behavior didn’t sit well with many. A clip surfaced online showing Apple stepping into the spotlight while another girl was posing for a photo. The other debutante was in the middle of her turn when Martin appeared, confidently making her way into the frame.

With hands on her hips, Apple struck several poses, subtly nudging the original girl out of the shot. The other debutante only responded with an awkward laugh as Apple continued to pose for the camera right next to her.

Eventually, the debutante walked away leaving Apple in the spotlight. Apple wrapped up and moved aside but almost bumped into another debutante waiting for her chance at the spotlight. Social media users didn’t like how she handled the limelight and her treatment of the other girls.

A harsh critique wrote, “The way Apple poses and the look on her face are both nauseating. All that money and no class.” Another user also declared, “Her dress is horrendous just like her attitude!”

Amidst the criticism, someone couldn’t hide their shock, saying, “The way my jaw dropped!” Another added, “Mean girl of a teenage film vibe.” The attention Apple received didn’t go unnoticed, with one fan commenting, “Grabbing spotlights .”

One person didn’t hold back, stating, “Shame on older debutante ‘Apple Martin’…what a huge ego!” Criticism continued with a fan writing, “‘Sacheyed’ into the poor girls picture. Another narcissistic nepo baby. You can’t hate them enough

[sic].”

Someone else countered in Apple’s defense, “You can CLEARLY see the photographer motion her to stop for a photo and she playfully indulges him. She seems [sic] excited to be outside and was just being silly. Y’all better leave Chris Martin’s Apple alone.” One fan also pointed out, “It looked like she was joking, other girl didn’t seem to mind.”

On a different note, someone expressed newfound admiration, “This made me like her. She has a sense of humor over the ridiculousness of this .” Adding to the mix, one commenter noted, “I think she was being silly and having fun .”

Gwyneth Paltrow posted the picture of this moment online alongside other snaps for the event, captioning it, “A special long weekend in Paris .”

Apple danced with her date for the event, Leo Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck, a member of the Austro-Hungarian noble House of Henckel von Donnersmarck. Chris and Apple also enjoyed a father-daughter dance.

Apple’s family made sure she felt loved during this occasion as her grandmother, Blythe Danner and her younger brother, Moses Martin were in attendance. Gwyneth and Chris showed up for their daughter despite having separated in 2014 after 12 years of marriage. The pair continue to co-parent, Apple, 20, and Moses, 18.

Chris and Apple share a great bond, with the musician previously offering a glimpse into their relationship during a 2020 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He recalled visiting his daughter at work in a clothing store, where, embarrassed by his unexpected entrance, Apple mouthed, “Dad, get out!” as he joined the checkout line.

Chris Martin shared that he felt terrible after the encounter and quickly moved to another line, still holding his T-shirt. He joked that he felt a bit scared of his daughter in that moment.

After paying for the T-shirt, he decided to buy her some fudge, knowing it was one of her favorite treats. “So I said to the lady, ‘Can you just give this to my daughter?’ And as I was leaving, she shouted, ‘I love you, Dad!’” narrated Chris.
