This old chair had been standing in my parents’ house for many years, and they decided to just throw it away However, instead of throwing away the chair, I decided to completely transform it
Look what I got
When I looked at this chair, I realized that it looked decent overall, but the upholstery clearly needed attention. Perhaps the domestic cats left their mark, they could not pass by. However, we decided to completely transform it.
The first thing we did was take it apart, carefully removing the old fabric – it could serve us as a sample in the future.
Then we removed the old foam and belts, taking photos of each step so that we could later reassemble the chair like new.
All the wooden elements looked solid, except for one leg. We carefully glued it and left it to dry for a day.
While the leg was drying, we took up the straps for the base. I used furniture strapping – I spent 16 meters on this to achieve maximum strength and comfort.
Then we moved on to creating a new seat base using foam and padding polyester. The old fabric served as a template for the new upholstery, but given the increased thickness of the foam, I added a few centimeters.
My mom chose a fabric with a geometric pattern, which added some complexity, especially when working with the armrests, but I managed to do it.
Next we moved on to the wooden elements: we treated them with special agents and sanded them to restore their original shine.
In the final stage, we concentrated on the final finishing of the wood – using oil and wax in a walnut shade to highlight the natural beauty of the beech.
Once the chair was fully assembled, we made sure that all the elements fit together perfectly.
The result exceeded all expectations!
I think we did a great job! What do you think?
