Just before our wedding, Ryan’s mother, Audrey, dropped a bombshell—30 minutes before the ceremony. She pulled me aside and showed me a video on her phone of Ryan with another woman, suggesting he’d been unfaithful. I was in shock but decided to confront him at the altar. I walked down the aisle, only to say “I don’t” instead of my vows. The room went silent, and I pointed to Audrey, urging Ryan to ask her about the video. He denied everything, but the evidence was clear.
Later, Ryan explained that his mother had staged the whole thing. She hired her college students to make the video because she didn’t want us to get married. Though hurt by both Ryan and Audrey, I forgave him, and we’re still together. But forgiveness for Audrey is much harder.
What would you do if you were in my shoes?
