Nicole Taylor, Taylor Red Singer Behind Viral Hit “Country Money,” Dies at 35
Nicole Taylor, the singer and musician who performed alongside her identical triplet sisters in the country group Taylor Red, has died following a battle with breast cancer. She was 35.
Taylor died on September 28, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, according to a memorial statement on the group’s official website. Her sisters and bandmates, Nika and Natalie Taylor, publicly announced her death in an emotional social media video on November 2.
In their tribute, the sisters remembered Nicole as the eldest of the three and a central presence in their lives.
“She was our leader and our best friend,” they wrote, expressing their heartbreak and their belief that they would one day be reunited with her. The family has already held a private funeral service.
Nicole was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2022. According to her sisters, she initially responded well to treatment and reached a point when no disease was detectable. The cancer subsequently progressed to stage 4.
Throughout her illness, Nicole continued trying to enjoy everyday life. Her sisters recalled that she exercised during chemotherapy, traveled, worked and remained hopeful even as her condition became more serious. They said her Christian faith was a constant source of strength. ABC News
Raised in South Mississippi, Nicole, Nika and Natalie built a musical partnership around their close harmonies and shared ability to play multiple instruments. Their performances incorporated guitar, banjo, fiddle and mandolin, bringing together country music and their gospel roots.
Originally performing as Red Roots, the sisters released their self-titled debut album in 2011, followed by The Middle of Nowhere in 2012 and Triplicity in 2014. They later adopted the name Taylor Red, and their 2021 song “Country Money” helped introduce their music to a wider audience online. ABC News
The trio’s career extended beyond recording. According to their official biography, they performed more than 1,000 shows across the United States and internationally, opening for artists including Charlie Daniels, Diamond Rio and Josh Turner. Their social media videos and appearances in national Sonic Drive-In advertising campaigns brought them further recognition.
For Nika and Natalie, the loss is deeply personal: Nicole was both their lifelong musical partner and their sister. Their memorial statement invites those wishing to honor her to contribute to Samaritan’s Purse, described as one of her favorite charities.
