Husband Forgets to Greet Wife on Their 50th Anniversary, Returns Home and Sees His Stuff Outside — Story of the Day

After fifty years of marriage, Betty was convinced her husband, Donald, had forgotten their anniversary again. She had prepared a romantic dinner, lit candles, and waited for hours—but he never came home.

Heartbroken and furious, she packed his belongings, dragged his favorite chair onto the lawn, and decided their marriage was over.

When Donald finally arrived, he was shocked to find his things outside. Betty accused him of forgetting their special day and no longer loving her.

Then Donald smiled and admitted he had been waiting for “another woman.”

Stepping out from behind him was their granddaughter, Hannah.

Betty burst into tears. Hannah’s flight had been delayed, and Donald had spent hours at the airport waiting to surprise his wife. Knowing how much Betty missed her only granddaughter, he had secretly bought the plane ticket and planned the visit as an anniversary gift.

Ashamed of jumping to conclusions, Betty apologized. Donald gently reminded her that after fifty years, she was still the love of his life.

But he wasn’t finished.

The next day, he gathered their children, friends, and a priest for another surprise—a ceremony to renew their wedding vows. Then he dropped to one knee, opened a ring box, and asked, “Betty, will you marry me again?”

She said yes, realizing that love isn’t measured by flowers or perfect timing, but by the thoughtful ways we continue choosing each other, year after year.
