Born on August 16, 1974, in Nova Scotia, Canada, Fleming developed a love for the performing arts early in life. She studied drama at the Kaleidoscope Theatre and trained as a dancer with the Kidco Theatre Dance Group. Before pursuing acting full-time, she worked as a model. Her screen debut came in the 1994 television movie Viper, followed by a small, uncredited role in the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore.

Fleming became more widely known for her portrayal of Candy in iZombie, a role she played from 2015 to 2019.
